Apple Holds Music Event
A music-themed event is being planned by Apple Inc.. The said event is set next week, sparking speculation that the consumer electronics giant may enhance its lineup of iPod digital music players and might also unveil a new Apple TV product.
Apple has emailed reporters on Wednesday. It was an invitation featuring an acoustic guitar with an Apple logo-shaped sound hole for an event scheduled for Sept. 1. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company has been their practice to hold a September event to update its iPod products and iTunes media store.
During the event, Apple will discuss deals with major television companies that would prmit it to rent episodes of television shows for as little as 99 cents. ABC owner Walt Disney Co. and News Corp.’s Fox are close to an agreement with Apple on the proposal, at least for some of their broadcast programs, according to people familiar with the matter. News Corp. also owns The Wall Street Journal.
An Apple spokesman declined to comment further on the event.
