Apple gives free iPhone 4 cases

 iPhone 4 case

Steve Jobs tackled the issue regarding iPhone 4′s antenna problem in a press conference and offered a free case to every owner of iPhone 4.

As discussed in the press con, the problem they have seen is caused by the steel case of the phone which covers several of the phone’s antennas thus when holding the phone on the lower left, it bridges the gap between two antenna which depletes the signal.

The case is said to solve the problem with regards to the phone signal when held in a certain way, it acts as "bumpers" around the phone to stop the gap being bridged.

"We’re not perfect, reception problems were endemic throughout the smartphone industry," Mr Jobs said.

To avail the free case, iPhone owners will be able to apply online via Apple website on July 22. Mr Jobs added that Apple cannot accomodate and make enough case for all owners of the said phone but would source a supply and offer a range of cases. He also offered a full refund to users who are not satisfied with the handset’s performance. The offer is available until September 30, 2010.

"They had to do something. The buzz kept getting louder and louder and the evidence kept mounting more and more and more. They just couldn’t ignore it," Van Baker said.
