At Miami airport, a US man was kept in custody Tuesday when his ammunition parts in his luggage exploded as baggage handlers were moving it from one plane to another.

The Miami-Dade bomb squad quickly moved in to action after the explosion, which happened as a baggage handler was taking luggage off of American Airlines flight 2585, which had just arrived from Boston, they said.

According to  FBI,  the 37-year-old man was a US citizen whose luggage contained several hundred primers, which ignite the powder charge in a cartridge. Now, he is facing charges for traveling without a license to carry ammunition.

The bag exploded when the handler placed it on the ground, sparking a primer inside and setting off a chain reaction.

"Local law enforcement disrupted the bag and determined that it contained firearm parts. There were no injuries and the scene has been cleared," the Transportation Security Administration said in a statement.
 

Based on reports, a Singapore Airlines plane  from Moscow to Singapore decided to make an emergency landing on Sunday in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata following a news of a bomb scare, an airport official confirmed.

The plane, boarded with 265 people, was not allowed to land in the Indian capital New Delhi due to heightened security for the opening of the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

"The pilot changed course of the plane after a bomb alert from Moscow police," Kolkata airport director R. Srinivasan said.

"The pilot immediately informed New Delhi airport about the alert, but was denied permission to land because of high security and restrictions for the opening of the Commonwealth Games in the capital."

However the plane was permitted to land at Kolkata airport.

The passengers were relieved to give way to security forces perform a thorough search in  the aircraft and baggage, Srinivasan said.

Manila, Philippines- Sunday night, January 24, the people at Greenhills Shopping Center were frantic when news reached them that unidentified men left explosive device somewhere inside the area.

It was reported that the police found a bottle-shaped rifle inside a black plastic bag inside a restroom on the second floor of the parking area  in Greenhills. But the police clarified that it  posed no real threat because it does not have a triggering device that would cause an explosion.

Good thing was the police responded right after the call was made. Further reports says that they are still determining the culprits who are responsible for the incident.
