Michael Martinez visits his hometown Muntinlupa


Recognizing his efforts in bringing prestige to Philippines, a tribute  was given to Olympic skater Michael Christian Martinez by the Muntinlupa City council yesterday.

Martinez amazingly placed Philippines on the map of world figure skating.

The young Olympian is  a native of Muntinlupa City. Recently, he ranked   19th place  in the 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi, Russia recently, a very huge leam  from his 30th rank upon qualifying for the international sporting event.

many of his supporters welcomed Martinez in a motorcade in the city before noon, witch finished at his alma mater, the Muntinlupa School for Child Development.

Recognized as an Outstanding Athlete, Martinez received a P100,000 cash gift by the city government.

“He is first and foremost a Muntinlupeño and our city is proud of him,” said Mayor Jaime Fresnedi. The Mayor also promised the full support of his hometown in his future endeavors.

Martinez arrived in Manila last Sunday after his 22 days stay at Russia for the Olympics.

A motorcade prepared by the Pasay City government and the management of  SM Mall of Asia  was waiting for him from the airport. SM Group gave him surprises. Martinez learned his beautiful moves at he mall’s skating rink.
