Strong earthquake shakes Eastern Indonesia

According to Officials, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 has struck eastern Indonesia.
Residents say the quake struck off Papua province early Wednesday causing panic and alarm, but there was no initial reports of damage.
The US Geological survey says it was centered 88 miles (33 kilometers) beneath the ocean floor. This caused the residents fleeing from their buildings in panic. Power blackouts hit some areas, but there were no serious damage or casualties reported.
It was followed by a strong aftershock. Hundreds of people were running out of their homes, said Yan Pieter Yarangga, a resident from the town of Biak. Fearing a tsunami, people fled beaches and some raced for higher ground.
Earlier there were fears of a possible tsunami, however, it did not happen.
