Half of men may be infected with HPV -Study

human papillomavirus

Half of the men maybe infected with human papillomavirus (HPV), it is the human wart virus that causes cervical cancer in women and other cancers. CDC (centers for disease control) recommends vaccination for women, while vaccination for men have not yet been recommended.

Studies conducted in US, Brazil and Mexico showed that 50% of the men had genital HPV infections during enrollment. Around 6% of men per year will get HPV 16 infection (the strain known for causing cancer).

The worst part is, while women can often clear the HPV infection as they grow older, men doesn’t have the same ability and have high prevalence of genital HPV throughout their lifespan.
