Cop arrested for selling 4 kilos of cocaine
Anti-narcotics agents snagged 4 kilograms of cocaine from a policeman during a buy-bust operation in Pasig City, late Tuesday night.
Senior Police Officer 1 Alexander Estabillo, assigned to the intelligence division of the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-ASG) was arrested.
The PNP’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) said its agents arrested Estabillo during a buy-bust operation at the Tiendesitas shopping compound in Barangay Ugong past 11 p.m..
Also seized from the policeman were his 9mm service firearm, ‘marked’ money, and a Mitsubushi Strada.
The cocaine snatched from Estabillo was in a form of a brick, covered with a brown Manila paper and plastic with a "BMW" sticker. The cocaine brick has a street value of P20 million.
According to PNP-AIDSOTF, before the arrest, they placed Estabillo under surveillance for a week.
Deputy Director General Edgardo Acuña, AIDSOTF commander, said the cocaine brick taken from the policeman could have been part of the at least 2 tons of cocaine discarded by a Chinese vessel off Samar province in December 2009.
Acuña said the PNP-AIDSOTF has been coordinating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the recovery effort of the cocaine shipment.
