Tropical Storm Henry enters Northern Luzon
According to the weather bureau, tropical storm Henry is moving closer to northern Philippines, strengthening the southwest monsoon that got Luzon all soaked in rain the past few days.
Henry, had maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, is the eighth cyclone to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this year.
It was sighted 850 kilometers east of Batanes and was making its way to west northwest toward the southern Japanese islands at a speed of 15 kph.
Even though the tropical storm had reached the country’s area of responsibility, PAGASA said it was still too far to start raising public storm warnings.
But, the weather bureau said rains and cloudy skies will overcome over Luzon and Western Visayas over the next few days as Henry will strengthen the southwest monsoon that has been bringing rains.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said residents of Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon should expect rains on Saturday. However, the rains should ease by Sunday, to be swapped by cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers, PAGASA said.
