Villaroman replaced after his 1-day as Manila police chief

Does his ties with Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson caused the recall of his appointment as Manila Police District (MPD) chief?
Whatever reason behind his replacement, Senior Superintendent Francisco Villaroman said he is taking everything in stride.
He told in an interview that he does not question the Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership’s decision to replace him after just one day on the job as MPD officer-in-charge (OIC).
He said that a former classmate of his relayed a message from PNP chief Director General Jesus Verzosa that his appointment was recalled.
Versoza announced that Chief Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla as the new OIC of the "Manila’s Finest".
Earlier, Villaroman replaced Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay, who ordered the ill-fated police assault on hostage-taker Rolando Mendoza.
“I was told there were people who claimed I had cases," Villaroman said. “Totoo po iyan, 9 years ago, may kaso ako. Ito po ay pulitika. Kaming mga kasama ni Sen. Lacson nadamay sa kaso.”
He once served under the command of Lacson, who was the chief of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force then.
"For 9 years nasa Ombudsman ang case. Di kumikilos dahil walang basis, walang ebidensya, walang material evidence. Noong tinanggal ako, ‘di na ako nagtanong kung bakit,” he said.
Villaroman considers that former narcotics agent turned whistleblower Mary “Rosebud” Ong had something to do with the recall of his appointment.
“Si Rosebud ang nag-feedback, wala na pong iba," he said.
Meanwhile, Villaroman take his previous position as PNP Region 12 deputy regional director for operations.
