Schedule of Holy Week masses at the Manila Cathedral
During the holiest days of the Holy Week, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales will preside over the masses and services at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros.
On Holy Thursday, the Chrism mass, will be held at 7 a.m.
The beginning of the Easter Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season. An evening mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. It will reach its highest point in the Easter Vigil on Saturday night, and closes with the evening prayer on Easter Sunday.
Cardinal Rosales will lead at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at the Manila Cathedral at 5 p.m. on Thursday. It will feature the Washing of the feet, which symbolizes the act performed by Jesus Christ to his apostles to signify his service to all.
On Friday, Cardinal Rosales will preside the celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3 p.m. The Easter Vigil, on the other hand, will start at 8 p.m. on Saturday
Before the first Easter Sunday mass, the Encuentro or Salubong will take place. Here, statues of the risen Christ and the Blessed Mother meet from two different points.
