Purisima says it was an advice not an order

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Alan Purisima insists that  he did not give orders but just advised Special Action Force (SAF) chief Getulio Napenas on the operation to take out 2 high-profile terrorist targets.

During  the Senate hearing on Monday, Purisima said Napenas “knows very well that he can’t and should not follow orders from anyone who is not in the chain of command.”

During the operation, Purisima was serving his 6-month suspension from a graft case.

“During my preventive suspension, I did not give any orders to any PNP official or personnel regarding Oplan Exodus. But if ever I uttered words to that effect, it was in the form of an advice, not a directive or order,” Purisima said.

“A command should be followed, an advice may not be followed,” Purisima added.

Earlier, Oplan Exodus was created  for terrorists Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and Basit Usman.
