Passengers Stuck in Batangas port
150 passengers got trapped in Batangas and Quezon.
29 families were transferred in Laguna when tropical storm Basyang struck Luzon late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
Passengers going to Oriental Mindoro got stuck in the port of Batangas City because of the small number of available ships.
Based on reports, roll-on roll-off (roro) ships began boarding passengers as early as 6 a.m. on Wednesay, however 2 ships were only allowed to set sail.
Ships with a weight of more than 1,000 gross tons went on with operations in spite of alert level 1 status.
Since Tuesday afternoon, Romblon trips were not allowed to set sail.
As rains persisted to pour early Wednesday, classes in all Batangas grade school and high schools were suspended by Batangas Governor Vilma Santos Recto.
Meanwhile, in the province of Quezon, 42 passengers headed for Alabat and Perez got stranded in Atimonan port.
In the province of Laguna, Office of Civil Defense evacuated 29 families from the towns of Paete, Liliw, Nagcarlan, and Pila after the onslaught of tropical storm Basyang.
A power transformer exploded in San Jose, Morong Rizal, causing power shortages in Cardona, Tanay, Binangonan, Jalajal, Pililia, Angono, Taytay, and Morong.
