Palace on Enrile’s dismissal of prosecution witness

enrile

Obviously not happy with the decision, Malacanang on Wednesday thought that it was   unfortunate that the  Senate President and impeachment trial presiding officer Juan Ponce Enrile decided to dismiss some of the witnesses of the prosecution.

During a press briefing, Edwin Lacierda said:“It’s unfortunate that the Senate President has decided to disallow the reception for evidence with respect to Article III. But, as they say, the fight goes on.”

“So far we believe that the evidence as culled from Article II with respect to the bank accounts [and] with respect to the properties of the Chief Justice would be strong bases for the senators to rule on the impeachment,” he added.

In addition to that, he said it is unfortunate that being the lead prosecutor, Iloilo Rep Niel Tpas Jr, has to take all  of the statements of the Senate President.

“But that is his role as lead prosecutor. He takes success as well as he takes the criticisms,” he added.
