Manny Villar started his 90-day campaign singing "Ikaw na Nga"
In Calamba Laguna, Senator Manuel Villar Jr. on Tuesday , started his 90-day campaign for presidency rendering a song which was sang by Willie Revillame’s hit "Ikaw Na Nga.
Revillame said that he was not paid to campaign for Villar. "Hindi ko binebenta ang kaluluwa ko. Walang halagang pinag-uusapan. Sa mapagkakatiwalaan tayo… Ito ang taong pinagkakatiwalaan namin," he said."(My soul is not for sale. There was no talk about money. I support him because I trust him.). Revillame from the start openly supports the candidacy of Villar. The popular host asked the crowd to turn on their cellphones while Manny Villar and running-mate Sen. Loren Legarda and Nacionalista Party senatorial candidates held hands.
Before his song number, Villar asked why it was hard for his opponents and critics to accept that a person from a poor family can get rich and even become a President of the country.
"Napakahirap ba na ang isang mahirap ay pwedeng yumaman sa malinis na paraan? Napakahirap ba isipin at takang-taka sila? Napakahirap ba sikmurain na ang isang anak mahirap ay pwedeng mangarap na maging pangulo ng Pilipinas?," he said.
Having said that, applause and cheers were heard from the crowd.
The senatorial candidates held a motorcade on several parts of Laguna, rounding Biñan, Balibago, Sta.Rosa Public Market, Cabuyao and then Calamba before the kickoff rally. Most of the watchers were wearing orange, which serves as the party’s signature color for the campaign.
The Government’s C-5 road extension project became controversial implicating the senator for using his position to benefit financially .
