Gordon & Bayani, declares no celebrities in their campaign
Turning the other way, not following the traditional campaign rallies, Bayani-Gordon tandem or better known as the "transformers" decided not to take on celebrities to draw crowd. They prefer to go around promoting their candidacies themselves.
In Mr. Bayani Fernando’s point of view, employing actors would be very expensive, and that their group wanted to show that it’s not necessary to overdo in their campaign. They will just rely on their creativity to pay off their lack of budget. Their Motorcade started in Cavite. He cited that in rallies, what matters most is how the candidate should be able to relay his message and platforms to the people. Borrowing the slogan of Nationalista Party standard bearer Manuel Villar Jr. "hirap at tyaga" and Liberal Party vice presidential candidate Manuel "Mar" Roxas II with "papadyak", he asked the clarity of their intentions.
As a substitute of hiring actors, Fernando said he and his running mate will be the ones to serenade the crowd. As a main attraction, transformers will not be transformers without Optimus Prime, the 10-wheel Isuzu truck that will carry them throughout their motorcade.
In popularity surveys, the tandem of Gordon-Bayani needs a lot of catching up to do. Gordon landed on 6th place in Pulse Asia’s January 22 to 26 presidential preference survey with 1%. Senator Benigno Simeon Aquino III ranked 1st with 37%, followed by Villar 35%, then former President Joseph Estrada, 12 percent,Gilberto Teodoro Jr., 5 percent, and 5th Bangon Pilipinas’ Eddie Villanueva, 2 percent. Senator Jamby Madrigal, trailing Gordon.
