Closure of Roads in Manila part of Rizal’s birth anniversary celebration


Some areas of Roxas Boulevard were closed to traffic starting  Wednesday morning as part of the ceremony that took place at the Rizal Park to remember the 152nd birth anniversary of the country’s national hero.

 Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit said, the north and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard from T.M. Kalaw to Katigbak was closed at 7 a.m.

Authorities added that  all vehicles  from the southern part of Manila headed to use  the northbound lane of Roxas Blvd. will turn right at TM Kalaw and then turn left at Ma. Orosa.

In the meantime, for those coming from the northern part of Mania intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. shall turn left at P. Burgos and then turn right at Ma. Orosa.

Outgoing Manila Mayor Lim led the wreath laying ceremony before Rizal’s monument in Manila.

In the event other groups were present like the Knights of Rizal, Philippine Navy, and officials of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Some of Rizal’s relatives also came.
