Bangus

After the calamity brought by tropical storm "Basyang" in Metro Manila, prices of fish went down while prices of some vegetables increased.

In a public bulletin by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, they advised the public to take caution against "double dead" fish or those killed due to the typhoon.

"Kailangan mapula at sariwa at hindi malambot na malambot ang katawan ng isda. At kung bulok ito’y malambot at may amoy (The fish has to be reddish and fresh. If it is rotten, it will be very soft and will have an unpleasant odor)," BFAR Fish Health Section head Simeona Regidor said in an interview on dzBB radio.

In Libertad Public Market, the price of bangus went downto P80 per kilo from P90 per kilo. The prices of tilapia went down to P65 per kilo from P70 to P75 per kilo. Dalagang bukid remained at P100 per kilo. However, galunggong went up to P80 per kilo from P60 per kilo.

The said price reduction was due to fish pen owners who sold their products at lower prices.

However, prices of pork, beef and chicken remained at P180, P200 and P125 respectively.

Meanwhile, garlic prices went up to P120 per kilo from P90 per kilo. Prices of other vegetable, which includes tomatoes, onions, sayote and carrots were unchanged.
