7 Fishermen missing, under Typhoon Basyang

Reportedly, a  fisherman drowned, six others are still missing, following the huge waves that ruined their boat off the coast of Mariveles, Bataan, on Tuesday night.

According to rescue teams, as of 11 a.m., Wednesday, the group was still searching for the body of Alex Perpenia, 24, from Barangay Kawayan in Mariveles.

His co-fishers were identified as Leoncito Umbat, Marcelo Avila, Bong Fajardo, Jun Barbarona, Apat Capilean and a man known only as Toto remain missing, as of Wednesday.

The victims worked as crew on the Alicia A/C, one of the eight fishing vessels that met a sea accident Tuesday night.

The OCD said a fishing barge Debora Uno also tipped over and sank off Mariveles as powerfu; waves crashed through this part of the South China Sea.

Meanwhile, a tanker boarded with LPG tanks headed for Pasay City also keeled over.

According to Nigel Lontoc, OCD Central Luzon information officer, no one died, .

The seven other fishing boats were damaged by huge waves, Lontoc said.
