Pacquiao to earn $22M from Marquez fight?
It’s not about the money money…..!
But with Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao’s every opponent it sure matters.
There are reports that Pacquiao is sure to earn $22 million from his fight with Mexico’s Juan Miguel Marquez in Las Vegas on Sunday, however the amount may go much higher depending on pay-per-view (PPV) sales, said veteran boxing analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz.
The global sports group expects the trilogy fight with Marquez to be the biggest Pacquiao fight ever, in terms of PPV sales.
During an interview on ANC’s Dateline Philippines, Nathanielsz said the pound-for-pound king earn a higher amount if the PPV and other ancillary income increases the guaranteed stash of $22 million. Still, he clarified that Pacquiao will get whichever amount is higher and not the total of both.
Take away tax and expenses, Pacquiao will bring home 50%, more or less, of his gross earnings in the fight, according to Nathanielsz. "If the total is $30 million, he get’s 50%. That’s $15 million which is still a lot."
Meanwhile, Marquez is guaranteed to get $5 million.
