New Jersey heat wave persists with record-breaking 100 degree temperature

Today is recorded to be one of the hottest days of the year with temperature expected to reach 100 degrees as a heat wave persists to dry out the people in New Jersey from Sussex to Cape May County.
According to Bob Wanton of the National Weather Service,“This is much above normal and is probably going to break records in a lot of areas.”
Temperatures are projected to reach 102 degrees today in some parts of New Jersey. With the high humidity, Wanton said it could feel more like 104.
The heat wave is estimated to last until the weekend with highs reaching 97 on Wednesday and remaining in the 90s through Friday.
The tremendous temperatures combined with a lack of rain have prompted a heat advisory, increasing the threat of heat-related illnesses across the state.
“I’m sure people have heard it over and over again, but if you must be outdoors, don’t spend too much time out, and make sure you drink a lot of water,” Wanton said.
However for some, the indoors could only give little relief from the harsh heat over the weekend with power outages cutting off the air conditioning to several communities.
