Emission of Methane at Durgapur steel plant in West Bengal, 27 ill

Reportedly, on Thursday morning, 27 workers got ill following “increased emission” of carbon monoxide and methane from a blast furnace of Durgapur steel plant in Durgapur, West Bengal.
From the affected workers, 24 were brought in at Durgapur steel plant (DSP) hospital where the condition of the four employees was said to be serious, chief of communications of DSP, B Kanungo, said.
They have been transferred to the intensive care unit. The steel plant is owned by Steel Authority of India Ltd (Sail).
