Burma's leader in China for a 5-day visit

Burma’s military leadser General Than Shwe arrived in China and will remain until September 11 to meet with President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.
The leaders are believed to discuss the ethnic rebel armies operating along the Burmese-Chinese border and tools for repression. They are also expected to discuss the forthcoming general elections due in Burma (or Myanmar) on November 7.
The two countries have built a strong relationship over decades. The leaders of these military led government are expected to exchange information and introduce new officials to each other.
Other countries refuse to invest in Burma because of its human rights record. China stepped in to fill in the void and invests millions of dollar in infrastracture projects.
Two pipelines are being laid in the ground – one for oil and the other for natural gas. This will provide China easier access for energy supplies.
China is the third largest trading partner of Burma, after Thailand and Singapore, investing 1.8 billion dollars in the country.
