Brother of Pope Benedict XVI, willing to testify in sex scandal issue
Rome- According to Regensburg Diocese, a former singer came forward claiming sexual abuse allegations in the 1960s.
There have been reports that therapists in the region took care several alleged victims from the choir. Rev. Georg Ratzinger, brother of Pope Benedict XVI led the choir from 1964-1994.
Ratzinger stressed in an interview that there was only "discipline and rigor" but no terror during his 30 years as head of the Regensburger Domspatzen choir in Germany. A former member of the choir Franz Wittenbrink challenged that "a sophisticated system of sadistic punishments in connection with sexual lust" had been observed there.
The ex-choir leader said in a statement that he is very willing to provide any information on any actions that could be punished, stressing that he doesn’t know anything about it.
Meanwhile Pope Benedict made no public comment regarding the issue, but when Ratzinger was asked if he had spoken already to his brother, he said no since the press are the only ones interested with these things.
