51 Death polls on Turkey Earthquake
A strong tremor of a magnitude-6 struck Turkey that killed 51 villagers in an isolated part of eastern Turkey before dawn on Monday.
The quake was reported to happen at 4:32 am local time and lasted about a minute. The villagers, during the quake tried to get out onto the street.
Aside from the fact the country have criss-crossed faultlines, Turkey frequently experiences quakes. In August of 1999, Turkey was struck by an earthquake with an intensity of 7.4 that killed 18,000 people.
After the quake, families built fire to keep them warm. Turkey has more than 40 aftershocks which had the magnitude of 5.5. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan called out in a meeting of his AK Party to his citizen to stay away from damaged houses because of a possible aftershocks that could occur.
