47 Hurt when China plane overshoots runway
In reports of Xinhua news at least 47 people were injured when a Chinese passenger plane overshot its runway and burst into flames while it was trying to land late Tuesday in China’s northeast
The plane crashed while trying to land in the city of Yichun in remote Heilongjiang province.
The aircraft was operated by Henan Airlines, a carrier based in the northern province of the same name.
47 people were reported rescued from the crash, Xinhua said, but it did not confirm any deaths.
Xinhua said the plane had 91 passengers and five crew aboard at the time.
The aircraft was an E-190 jet, a passenger aircraft manufactured by Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace conglomerate.
The crash happened around 10:10 pm (1410 GMT) near Yichun’s Lindu airport. The plane took off earlier from Harbin, the provincial capital.
Firefighters and rescue personnel arrive at the scene of the crash tying to extinguish the fire and rescue victims, it added.
