Public apology of Melissa Mendez to Rey Pamaran
Actress Melissa Mendez has issued a public apology after the controversial altercation between her and businessman Rey Pamaran.
The incident last week led the actress being offloaded from a Cebu Pacific flight from Manila to Pagadian.
Mendez, through official Instagram account apologized to Pamaran Tuesday.
She posted unedited: "In light of the recent incident that involved me and Mr. Rey Pamaran, I would just like to simply apologize for my untoward actions and move on from this. This incident has caused a lot of pain and trouble to me and my family, as well as the other party involved.
"I am owning up to my mistake. No matter what the reason might be, I had no right to physically hurt Mr. Pamaran. Again, my deepest apologies to Mr. Pamaran and everyone else who have been affected by this."
Earlier, Pamaran on his social media accounts posted an open letter to Mendez, saying he will not push for legal charges against the actress, with his condition that she set the records straight.
Saying that his legal team has already began reviewing to create a complaint, Pamaran told Mendez to "just tell the public what truth is," and that if not, he will be "pursuing all cases against you in the proper courts."
In his letter, Pamaran stated that he forgave Mendez "the moment [she] was escorted out from the airplane," which was recorded on video by Pamaran’s companion, pageant titlist and rugby player Andrew Wolff.
Thereported clips posted by Wolff on Instagram went viral on the morning of March 20, which made Mendez go on a television interview talking about the incident.
The rift, according to accounts of the Mendez and Pamaran, started when Mendez initially declined to leave a window seat reserved for Pamaran on the reason of wanting to "take pictures of the clouds."
During the flight, Mendez went back to Pamaran and hit him because according to her, Pamaran allegedlycontinued to give offensive remarks about the actress. Pamaran and Wolff said that Mendez was drunk, and tha she was given warnings by the flight staff before she was told that she will be offloaded.
